About Us

Senex Arms is a new firearms company, but the journey getting here has spanned nearly 25 years. Founder Brandon Makowski has always been intrigued with mechanical devices. His dream to join the military drew his focus into trying to understand how firearms worked. At the beginning of high school he enrolled himself in an pilot engineering program. By his senior year, he was attending entry level college classes under that same program. Shortly after graduation he left to join the Marine Corps and became a Reconnaissance Marine. His experience there was quite diverse in different disciplines of warfare. The issued M4A1 left much to be desired as a utilitarian weapon suited for both patrolling and CQB. Shortly after his 2nd deployment, he was being processed for a medical discharge. During that processing time he was placed in the armory and opened up a small firearm business which was primarily focused on serving his fellow Marines, family, and friends. During that time he had a thought of an improved service weapon. The foundation work started in 2015 with the first concept CAD models of what we now call the MBLR-15.

What's in a name?

Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty, or give me death!" is an incredibly profound statement. It is to hold liberty in the highest regard, even above the sanctity of life. A struggle that has seemed to evade our history books is that between the Federalist and Anti-Federalist. Patrick Henry was an outspoken Anti-Federalist who believed that eventually a strong federal government would overstep its authority and become indistinguishable from a monarchy. He wrote a criticism of John Adams, a strong Federalist and our 2nd President, under the pseudonym, Senex.
